Camp Add-Ons

AIRPORT SHUTTLE INFORMATION

We are not offering an airport shuttle this year. The University of Toledo is under 25 minutes from Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport (TOL). In November 2023 we checked prices from Lyft and Uber, and their estimates were between $20 and $30 one way. Other airports in the general area are Detroit (DTW), about an hour away and Cleveland (CLE), approximately two hours away.

ADDITIONAL OVERNIGHTS
(Thursday and Sunday Options)

There is limited availability for additional nights on either Thursday and/or Sunday and each night is an additional $55 (per person). Please make your arrangements as soon as possible to ensure we can accommodate your needs.  For those wishing to stay Thursday evening, you will need to contact us in advance at [email protected] to arrange getting into your room (arrival is pre-registration).

LINEN SETS for DORM ROOMS

A NOTE ABOUT BEDDING: We have just found out that, contrary to previous information we were given, bedding linens, blankets, and pillows are not provided at the dorms. Our experience at other colleges is that campers prefer to bring their own pillow along with bedding linens and blankets and we always recommend that, anyway. We are working on a Plan B for those who absolutely are not able to bring their own (like those flying in); but for now, we don't have access to linens. If you are driving in, please bring your own bedding.

All campers must bring their own towels and washcloths, shampoo, shower gel, soap, and any other personal bathroom/nighttime items they may need, regardless of whether they can provide their own bedding or not.

The linen size is Twin XL. We have found sheet sets and pillows for about $13 total at Target

Playing Level Self-Evaluation
Your responses do not commit you to any particular level or instrument! You may attend any classes that you wish. Your answers will only be used for planning purposes.

  • This player has been playing for up to 6 months and has learned 3 - 4 chords but hesitates in between chord changes to move the fingers to the next location.

  • This player knows a handful of chords and can move from one chord to another without pausing. Has trouble with barre chords, and has developed a strum or two or a basic finger pattern for picking.

  • This player can hold a steady rhythm, and is competent with a variety of basic chords (for example: A, Am, Bb, B7, C, C7, D, Dm, E7, Em, F, F7, G, and G7. Understands simple chord progressions (such as I, IV, V chords), can sing and strum at the same time, and learns chords to simple tunes fairly quickly.

  • This player can hear I, IV, and V chords, has mastered some chord inversions, knows there is life above the fifth fret, and has been there with barre or 4-fingered movable chords. Plays lead and backup easily with others and keeps steady rhythm.

  • For those taking their first steps on the instrument. You have a hard time making clear single notes and are not sure how far to move your mouth up and down the harp in order to get the next hole. Trying to master simple melodies such as “Oh Susanna”.

  • You can generally play single notes clearly. know simple melodies, and are somewhat proficient in note bending. You have experimented with blues “cross harp”, but need work on improvising.
